A (Literal) Twist on a Classic

You know the story, but you haven’t seen it like this. Fairytales On Ice, Featuring Beauty and The Beast, is coming to Harbison Theatre at Midlands Technical College on March 11.
 
World-champion ice skaters, acrobatic performers, and live singers bring this magical tale to life with modern music, theatrical storylines, and amazing special effects, all while incorporating the live sport of figure skating on synthetic ice. 
 
In Fairytales On Ice’s twist on Beauty and The Beast, they emphasize the message that happiness is founded on virtue and honesty is always best. The show also weaves in storylines of several other classic fairytales.
 
“This show has something for everyone in the family to enjoy – it’s musical theatre mixed with the high-energy sports of figure skating and acrobatics,” said Kristin Cobb, HT@MTC Excecutive Director.

For the show, a special smooth-surface synthetic ice will be laid out on the stage. The performers wear ice skates, and the material they skate on looks and performs similarly to real ice.
